The president said that he would “fight” over border protection if the bill were to pass the House.
The bill would also create a commission to study how to make border security improvements.
In addition, the president said he would call on Congress to approve additional funding to help states deal with the surge of illegal border crossings.
“I will fight to make sure that we have the resources necessary to ensure that we can enforce the laws of the United States,” he said.
House Speaker Paul Ryan has said he opposes the border wall because of its cost.
On Friday, President Donald Trump tweeted that he was “very pleased” with Ryan’s statement.
“He said, ‘I’m very pleased with him,'” Trump told reporters.
Republicans have been fighting hard to repeal Obamacare.
Trump has said that the Affordable Care Act should be “repealed and replaced” and that the bill is a “Trojan horse.”
